Overview

Nestled in the charming streets of Paris's 13th arrondissement, Au Banquier stands as a heartfelt ode to traditional French dining—unpretentious, authentic, and warmly inviting. This small, family-run restaurant manages to strike a rare balance between hearty, generous portions and refined flavors that celebrate both the local culinary heritage and subtle international influences.

The environment at Au Banquier is intimate and cozy, making it perfect for those who appreciate dining experiences grounded in genuine connection rather than trend-driven flair. The staff embodies that spirit; friendly, attentive, and effortlessly respectful, lending the atmosphere a genuine neighborhood warmth that few places manage to capture in the bustling heart of Paris.

When it comes to the menu, the standout dishes are a testament to the kitchen’s expertise and commitment to flavor. The Petite Entrecôte Frites is a revelation—rich, tender ribeye steak cooked to perfection, delivering a nostalgia-tinged experience where quality and comfort prevail. Equally impressive is the Bœuf et Tagliatelle sauce tomate, a classic pairing elevated by well-balanced, robust sauces and expertly prepared pasta. For seafood lovers, the Calamares à la Andaluza offers a fresh, crispy bite with a touch of Mediterranean flair. The Carré de Agneau and assorted couscous selections also deserve special mention, showcasing Au Banquier’s versatility and dedication to traditional, soul-satisfying fare.

Beyond the dishes, Au Banquier’s drink selection is thoughtfully curated, featuring French staples like Armagnac, Cognac, and various fruit liqueurs, complementing the meal with richness and depth. Not to be overlooked are the local brews such as Saint Omer, which pair seamlessly with the robust flavors on the plate.

This restaurant is ideal for those who seek an authentic Parisian dining experience, favoring substance over style, and warmth over pretense. It's a place where locals return time and again—not just for the food, but for the sincere hospitality and the rare feeling of belonging. If you value a meal rooted in tradition, served with earnest care in a quintessentially Parisian setting, Au Banquier promises not only satisfaction but a connection to the true spirit of neighborhood dining.

Wow! This was simply an amazing experience (which you would not anticipate from a small restaurant in between the neighbourhood). The waiter was super friendly and respectful, all dishes - extremely hearty and tasty Highly recommend to visit this family restaurant if you like to discover interesting “pearls”

This restaurant is a refreshing blast from the past, devoid of any pretentiousness that plagues so many establishments today. The portions are unapologetically generous—seriously, you won't leave hungry. The ribeye steak? Absolutely stellar, cooked to perfection, and worth every penny. The service feels genuine, almost nostalgic, a rare find in an era dominated by trendy, overpriced spots that make you feel like you need to mortgage your soul for a decent meal. If you’re tired of the sterile, curated experiences that are more about aesthetics than substance, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended.

Great food (try the couscous served Thursday thru Sunday), great prices (around 17.00€ for the formula menu), and always service with a smile make this restaurant one of my favorites! I visit almost weekly, if that says anything.

The food is good, the service is amazing and the prices are very reasonable. The daily set is worth it at below 13€ for entrée, plat du jour and a dessert. I enjoyed the experience. Not a very busy place but I appreciated it nonetheless.

We first visited this restaurant about ten years ago, and have come here every year since. Good food, very reasonable prices, and friendly owners and staff. We have never had a bad meal or experience here, which over 10 years says a lot about their consistent standards. Very much a locals place, which makes the experience even more enjoyable if one does not want to eat in tourist restaurants. Recommended highly.

Best meal I’ve had in Paris, and a great value to boot. I had the couscous avec mouton, and it was probably enough food for 2 very hungry or 3 regular hungry people (but I ate darn near all of it because it was that good). Highly recommend, and I hope to return next time I’m in Paris.
